In Exodus 20:8-11, where the Ten Commandments are recorded, it says to remember the Lord’s Day and keep it holy, but I want to know exactly what it means. I have a friend who just started going to church, and how hard I went to church was that I went to church in the morning of Lord’s Day and returned home in the evening, leading a completely different life from before. When I go to church, not only the Lord’s Day worship service, but also the evening service, prayer and fellowship meetings, and volunteer service. At first, I said why did we go to church all day on the most comfortable holiday of the week (Lord’s Day), but now we are going to church together.
I haven’t been to church in a while, but if possible, I want to know God’s will clearly and live my life as it is. The Bible tells us to keep the Sabbath (Lord’s Day), but please tell us in detail why we keep Lord’s Day as the Sabbath and how to keep it holy.

It is a Christian’s duty and privilege to keep Lord’s Day holy. I hope that God’s children will understand God’s will clearly and become valuable food in their hearts by answering the questions about why God’s children must keep the Lord’s Day, the meaning and method, and the promises that follow.

1. Meaning of Lord’s Day
The Bible records that in the beginning, when God created the heavens and the earth, in six days He created all things, and set apart the seventh day, blessed it, sanctified it, and that God Himself rested on this day (Genesis 2:1-3). ). And when he gave the Ten Commandments to God’s people, the fourth commandment was, “Remember the Lord’s Day and keep it holy. Six days you will work hard to do all your work, but the seventh day is the Lord’s Day of the Lord your God. You or your Do not do any work to your son, or your daughter, or your male servant, or your female servant, or your livestock, or the stranger who sojourns in your gates” (Exodus 20:8-10).
Therefore, the Lord’s Day is a day for God’s people to rest comfortably in God. It doesn’t just mean getting physically comfortable. It means true rest, spiritual rest, to enjoy joy and peace in God.
Eating and drinking for the body and taking deep sleep or entertainment are only momentary pleasures, so they cannot be true rest for man. Also, even if you have taken everything in this world, such as knowledge, honor, wealth, and glory, if you do not have joy and peace in your heart amidst the pain of anxiety, worry, worry, and disease, this too cannot be true rest.
Then, how can we enjoy true rest?
Because of the sin that resulted from the disobedience of the first man, Adam, all people went down the path of sin and death (Romans 5:12), so we cannot enjoy true rest except through Jesus Christ, who is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6). . It means that we can enjoy true rest only when we receive the authority to become children of God by accepting Jesus Christ and gain freedom from sin and death.
Therefore, we must enjoy true rest through Jesus Christ by keeping it holy by remembering the Lord’s Day ordained by God for sanctification and blessing.

2. Old Testament Sabbath (Lord’s Day) and New Testament Sunday (Lord’s Day)
The day God rested on was Saturday in today’s terms. As you can see from the calendar, Sunday is the first day and Saturday is the seventh day, the last day of the week. So, in the Old Testament times, Saturday was kept as the Sabbath (Lord’s Day), and even now, Judaism, which does not recognize Jesus as the Savior, still keeps Saturday as the Sabbath (Lord’s Day).
Then why did the Lord’s Day change from Saturday to Sunday in the New Testament?
When man, created by God, fell to death through sin, the God of love sent his only begotten Son, Jesus, to this earth as a propitiation sacrifice. It was to atone for the sins of all mankind by being nailed to the cross, shed His blood and die (Galatians 3:13) and to bring life to life. Jesus died on the cross on Friday, the day before the Lord’s Day, and three days later, at dawn on Sunday, He broke the authority of death and resurrected (Matthew 28:1) to become the first fruits of resurrection (1 Corinthians 15:20). Through this resurrection, we who believe in Jesus Christ have been given life and true rest.
Therefore, Jesus Christ became the Lord of the Sabbath (Matt. 12:8), and from that time on, the church kept Sunday, the first day after the resurrected Sabbath, as the Lord’s Day (1 Corinthians 16:2), and called it the Lord’s Day. That’s why it’s called Lord’s Day (main day).
Therefore, on the Sabbath that we now observe, it means to praise and worship God the Father, who made the heavens and the earth, and to enjoy joy, happiness and rest, and we rejoice in the resurrection of the Lord who saved us and gave us true life and rest. It is the fact that there is a meaning of being grateful.
In the Bible, God has already said that the Sabbath (Lord’s Day), which was Saturday, will be changed to Sunday (Lord’s Day). Leviticus 23:10-12 “Speak to the children of Israel and say, ‘When you enter the land I am giving you and gather your grain, first of all you shall bring the first sheaf of your grain to the priest, and the priest shall give it for you. You shall shake the altar acceptable before the Lord, and on the day after the Lord’s Day you shall shake it.
Here, the day after the Sabbath (Lord’s Day) is Sunday, the day after the Saturday they observed as Lord’s Day. Another one-year-old ram without blemish refers to Jesus Christ. In this way, it was said that a one-year-old ram without blemish should be offered to the Lord on the next day of the Lord’s Day. As this prophecy, the Lord was resurrected on Sunday, and this day became the Lord’s Day to be offered before God the Father with true joy and thanksgiving. no see.

3. How to keep Lord’s Day holy and God’s blessing
To remember Lord’s Day and keep it holy is to work hard for six days, stop working in the world on Lord’s Day, go to church, glorify God, and rest in the Lord. It is God’s will to enjoy true rest by enjoying the rest of the soul as well as the rest of the body. Therefore, on Lord’s Day, don’t get caught up in worldly affairs, come to the church of the Lord’s body, worship God in spirit and in truth, listen to God’s word, have fellowship with the saints, and seek rest in the truth and seek spiritual growth.
When we worship God with the Word, prayer, and praise, God gives our souls the food of life and gives us the spiritual strength to win the new week. Not only that, but when we share God’s Word and share God’s grace with our brothers and sisters in faith after worship, He strengthens our faith. In addition, he prevents accidents, diseases, and trials and tribulations for the saints who fulfill their duty as children of God, and protects and protects them for a week. Even if there is a mistake, He works together for good.
In this way, glorifying God in the Lord, avoiding the worldly greed, refraining from buying, selling, trading, or seeking self-interest (Nehemiah 13:15-22) and enjoying true rest according to God’s will, God is pleased. Not only spiritual blessings, but also blessings in everything. This is because when the soul prospers, all things prosper and lead a strong life.

4. If you do not keep Lord’s Day holy
On the other hand, He said that breaking the Lord’s Day is evil, and he warned that if we break the Lord’s Day, God’s wrath will come upon us. If you are still weak in your faith and do not know these things, even if you open a store again after worship or extend your business or work, God does not say that you are guilty. If you follow it, it becomes a sin before God.
Therefore, those who have just started the Christian life and do not know the truth must fully observe the Lord’s Day as they learn and grow, and those who have faith must follow the teachings.
However, just as Jesus did good on the Lord’s Day and healed the sick with love (Matthew 10:10-12), so are doctors who do good for the sick, soldiers protecting the state and society, police, etc. Some people are unable to fully observe Lord’s Day due to official duties. In such a case, even if you work after the Lord’s Day service, you do not violate the Lord’s Day, so please worship and pray so that you can work.
