I hope your life will be filled with God’s love and blessings, and I want to share grace with you with the message entitled with “Unworthy Servants.”
People have a desire to receive recognition for their work and achievements. It is because people feel worthwhile when they receive praises and recognition for their big and small work done.
Let’s say you worked hard all night and paid your own expenses for the work, but you did not receive any compensation or recognition. Can you say, “I’m an unworthy servant, and I just did what I had to do,” without any discomfort or sorrow?
To possess the heart of an unworthy servant, you must not have selfish desires. If you have a selfish desire, your fleshly passions and greed will be provoked and you will try to achieve your own will instead of God’s. Then, you will inattentively try to achieve the things that bring benefits to you, your family, and the people around you rather than to seek the4 expansion of the kingdom of God.
Especially, when you have selfishness, arrogance will start sprouting out in you at some point. In the beginning of your Christian life, you might have been humble and glorified God, but now you may seek your own glory and enjoy the honor that is supposed to be offered up to God. Selfishness and arrogance are not easy to find because they are well-hidden deep within you.
If any of us always thinks of our Lord’s grace of having mercy on sinners who were doomed to death and shedding the redemptive blood on the cross to save us, none of us can boast about what we have done, no matter how many things we have achieved.
No one can position himself high above when he thinks about the grace of God of giving him strength to throw away sins, making him realize the Word of God, and leading him to experience the spiritual realm. All he can and must do is give thanks for the Lord’s grace and God’s love and offer many more faithful services to the kingdom of God.
Proverbs 16:18 reads, “Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before stumbling.” If you seek for your own glory after bearing many fruits by showing the power of God through fervent prayers, it means you have already started distancing yourselves from God.
Some believers used to be a precious tool and glorify God but later abandoned by God for they were stained with selfishness and arrogance. Some others lose the first love and have lukewarm faith for they sought fleshly peace and comfortableness. Still others come to blind the glory of God for they had greed for money and honor.
Therefore, I pray in the name of the Lord that you may humble yourselves more and more before our Lord who willingly gave up His life for us and confess from your inner hearts, “I’m an unworthy servant. I only did what I was supposed to do.”
