Scripture: Proverbs 10:12
“Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all transgressions.”
I wish for your life to be filled with God’s love and blessing. Now I want to share the grace with you through the message titled with “The Width of Love.”
If snow begins to pour down in a cold winter day, the snow covers the whole earth in a short time. Just as snow covers the whole earth even including all kinds of dirty parts, the love of God is great and wide enough to cover the sins and transgressions of mankind.
1 Peter 4:8 says, “Love covers a multitude of sins,” and Proverbs 10:12 says, “Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all transgressions.” If you possess the love to cover the transgressions and sins, you do not pass others’ sins but patiently wait and try your best to help them prosper in spirit.
Let me give an illustration. Suppose you chanced to notice that a faithful and competent fellow worker at your company is an ex-convict. Then, afterwards you may be cautious of him even though you do not show it outwardly. In reality it is a mere passing story, but you may gossip about that and abandon him instead of covering his transgression.
God sees not only men’s appearances but also their hearts, and furthermore knows whatever each individual has done in secret including his sins and transgressions. However, He does not judge anyone immediately.
This love of God was clearly demonstrated through our Lord Jesus who became flesh and came down to the earth. Many people were doomed to eternal death in the world in which sins and evils are rampant, but came to gain new life and be made alive by abiding in the love of Christ.
The amazing work of salvation in which God makes dying souls alive again has been made possible not because He revealed our transgressions and sins but because He covered them. Thus, you should not dislike or stay away from the other because of his outward evils but instead have to help him change. Usually you fail to accept others because of your self-righteousness and frameworks. There is no one whom you cannot accept with the love of God.
As much as you demolish your frameworks and embrace others with spiritual love, true love sprouts out within you and with your love many souls gain life and are made alive. If your heart is filled with the love with which you can cover others’ sins and transgressions just the way snow covers the earth, how many souls can rest in you and change!
Likewise, spiritual love that gives true life enables you to make the souls alive again and prosper. When you embrace the other and cover his transgressions and sins with true love, the soul can be made alive again and experience the works of change and life.
Therefore, since you have become a beloved child of God, may you share God’s love with as many people with thanksgiving and joy and lead them to the path to change and life, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ I pray!
