I want to know how to fast that pleases God.

Q) After I went to church, I received a lot of grace through the fasting and praying saints. I wondered how I could cry out and pray without eating anything, but now I have come to believe in the power of God to fill me with heavenly living water and manna. Not only did I feel that nothing was impossible if God gave me strength, but I also learned that if I fasted and prayed, it would be answered quickly. So I want to fast and pray, but I want to know how to fast that pleases God.

A) God is omnipotent and omnipotent, and He is the One who surely fulfills what He said. So, in Proverbs 8:17, “I love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently will find me.” Matthew 7:7 says, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; the door knock, and it will be opened to you.” So, if you look at the Bible, there are many records about the commandments that God’s children must keep and the blessings that come to them. This is because, as a child of God, if we forsake our sins and live according to the Word of God and become fully righteous, we can receive answers to whatever we pray and lead a blessed life like Abraham, the father of faith.
Therefore, in order to receive these answers and blessings, we must prepare a large vessel, and the strength does not come from man, but from God. That is why Matthew 17:21 says, “This kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.” Through prayer and fasting, the kingdom of God and His righteousness are accomplished.
Jesus also fasted for 40 days when he began his public ministry, and Moses, the leader of the Exodus, also fasted for 40 days when he received the Ten Commandments. Before Jesus was crucified, he prayed so that his sweat would become drops of blood in the Garden of Gethsemane (Luke 22:44). Elijah also prayed so earnestly on Mount Carmel to solve the three-and-a-half years of drought. His face fell between his knees. It was (1 Kings 18:42). How much more can we accomplish God’s great will if we do not pray and fast?

  1. This kind of oil does not go out except through prayer and fasting.
Jesus gave his disciples the power to cast out unclean spirits and heal all diseases and diseases, but they could not cure a child with an epilepsy demon. Then the disciples asked why they could not cast out the demons. Jesus’ answer was that he had little faith and was answered only through prayer and fasting (Mark 9:14-29).
Therefore, we should realize the importance of prayer and fasting. Prayer is a spiritual breath and is the key to answers. Without prayer, we can never receive God’s answers. James 4:2-3 says, “You do not have because you do not ask; you ask and do not receive because you ask erroneously, that you may spend it on your lusts.” If we pray and fast to give up our lusts and become blameless in our hearts, we can receive whatever we ask for.
That is why 1 John 3:21-22 says, “Beloved, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God, and we receive from him anything we ask, because we keep his commandments and do the things that are pleasing in his sight. ” he says. That is why many people fast and pray and become people who do the word of God, receive prompt answers, work miracles, and testify of the living God.
Even in the Bible, there are many amazing answers and blessings of people who fasted and prayed. Esther saved the nation by fasting and praying, and the people of Nineveh saved a nation that had no choice but to be destroyed. Jonah saved the life he had to die for, and Moses was given the stone tablets on which the Ten Commandments were written. That is the great power of prayer and fasting.
Fasting prayer means that God is pleased with you and blessed you with answers because you pray with the heart that if you die, you will die without touching anything except water. Fasting starts with one fast and can be one day, two days, three days, five days, seven days, or more. However, long-term fasting for more than 10 days, 15 days, 20 days, 30 days, 40 days, etc., is not to be decided easily and recklessly, but according to the will of God and under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. So, those who are not good at fasting start with one meal and do as much as they want for a day, two days, three days, as much as they can.
Fasting is done individually by setting a deadline or being supervised by the subject of prayer that you want to receive personally, or during the Holy Week in the sense of participating in the suffering of the Lord as a church, or as a whole during the New Year. In the case of New Year’s fast, it means to entrust everything to Almighty God at the beginning of the year, so God is pleased and protects us from various accidents and difficulties throughout the year, working together for good.
  2. A prayer that pleases God
Isaiah 58:6-9 says, “Is not the fast with which I am pleased to loosen the bonds of wickedness, to untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free, and to break every yoke? Is it not that you distribute your food to the hungry, and bring the poor who are wandering into your house, and when you see the naked you clothe yourself, and do not hide yourself from your bones and flesh? Walk before you, and the glory of the LORD will guard you behind you; when you call, the LORD will answer you; when you call, I will say, “Here I am.”
What we must not forget here is that while fasting we should pray with outcry, but refrain from entertainment and pray with spiritual love (Isaiah 58:1-5). Only then can you become a fast that is pleasing to God, experience God’s amazing work, and the power of fasting and prayer will be revealed.
Matthew 6:16-18 says, “When you fast, do not look sad like the hypocrites, for they disgrace their faces to show them what they are fasting. You have already received it. When you fast, grease your head and wash your face, so that the fast may not be seen by men, but to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees in secret will reward you.”
Among those who fast, we see that they cannot eat because they cannot eat, so they cannot pray. In order to please God, fasting does not end in itself, but we must cry out and pray. When we pray in this way, God supplies manna and living water from heaven so that we can fast and give us answers and blessings.
  3. Protective food and answers to prayers
after fasting After fasting according to the method God wants, you must have a protective food. It can be said that you did a complete fast when the protection ceremony was completed, because God accepts the protection ceremony as a fasting period. Therefore, even at this time, we still need to set the subject of prayer and pray in the way God wants us to. Note that the test may come after fasting. Therefore, when fasting in order to overcome by faith, it is good to prepare by prayer in advance, and especially, you should avoid taking pleasure in entertainment or giving blood. When we do this, God works at the most appropriate time and answers our wishes.
If you eat too much while eating a protective diet, you should be careful as your face will swell and your stomach will deteriorate. Usually, I eat three times a day, but when I eat rice porridge with rice or porridge, it is good to eat it four times in small amounts. Avoid meat, eggs, bread, beverages, oily foods, spicy, salty, sweet, and sour foods, chemical seasonings, and spices, and eat a vegetarian diet. If you boil it and eat it, it is good for the body and the recovery is quick. In the case of long-term fasting, it is recommended to start eating rice and gradually eat it with porridge, to make the liver of the food fresh, and to juice the fruit without irritation.
The duration of the protective diet should be the same as the fasting period. Some say that there is no need to eat a protective diet because the stomach is strong and digestion is good, but this is not the case. Since the period of the protection meal is a time to receive like a fast, when the protection meal is done completely, God strengthens the weak stomach and heals even minor diseases during this period, so the complexion will improve. Also, if a person is healthy, He works through various graces, such as giving the strength of self-control through that period.
In this way, in order to receive answers from God, not only self-control by fasting, crying and praying, but also repent of what is unworthy, break down the barriers with God, beat yourself up and submit, and God will bless you with grace and power. His faith and deeds are pleasing to him, and he answers prayers.
