Scripture: 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.”
I wish for your life to be filled with God’s love and blessing, and to share the grace with you through this message titled with “The Comfort of God.”
Mankind experiences various sorrows while living on the earth. It is no exaggeration to say that human lives are full of their lovers’ deaths, sufferings from diseases, failures in businesses, discords with others, problems in finance and the like.
But in 1 Thessalonians 5:16, our God urges you to “Rejoice always,” and in Philippians 4:4, to “Rejoice in the Lord always.”
Some of you may say that you can rejoice only with joyful things but you cannot rejoice when you suffer pains. However, children of God can give thanks and rejoice when they meet wit difficulties. That is because they have become the children of God who have received the promise of going into heaven and believe that they can receive the answers to all their problems through prayers.
By the way, the Bible tells us about spiritual mourning with which God is pleased. Matthew 5:4 says, “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” This verse means that we must not mourn because of physical sorrows and pains but spiritually mourn for the kingdom and righteousness of God.
If spiritual love comes upon you, you will spiritually mourn for His kingdom and righteousness. Through that spiritual mourning, the souls will change and the kingdom of God will be accomplished and you will be comforted by God.
The comfort of God is totally different from that of men. He comforts you not only with words but with physical things as well. Through the comfort of God, He gives the poor financial blessings and the sick healings and good health, and the desires of the heart of those who eagerly ask Him.
In addition, when you mourn for the souls around you, God will let you bear the fruits in your evangelism and service to missions, and when you mourn for throwing away your sins, He will give you the grace of forgiveness and comfort you with fundamental and practical things. And He will reward you in heaven, so how wonderful it its!
A few years ago God showed me a heavenly dwelling house that was given to a woman who had mourned and prayed for the kingdom and righteousness of God. The residence is decorated with a lot of gold and various jewels, and a big glittering pearl is outstanding therein.
Just as a clam endures long pains and produces a piece of pearl with all its life forces, the woman had mourned with a lot of tears in order to resemble the Lord and also lamented with tearful prayers for the kingdom of God and the souls. So, God comforted her with the beautiful residence in heaven.
Therefore, I urge you not only to rejoice in every affair with the faith in God but to mourn for His kingdom and as many souls. May each of you receive precious rewards in heaven as well as God’s comfort and blessing on earth, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ I pray!
