This is Dr. Jaerock Lee, Senior Pastor of Manmin Central Church in Seoul, Korea. I wish for your life to be filled with God’s love and blessing. I want to share God’s grace with you through this message titled “Within the Boundaries of Blessing.”
A company, when it recruits new workers, gives them various tests. It requires them to turn in mandatory documents and then sit for interview, or to pass an examination and then an interview. Some companies look for the new applicants’ personal homepages and blogs to measure and gain insight into such things as their nature, personalities, manners in human relationships, and individual abilities.
Each company tries its best to choose the most proper people according to the standards it has set up. It is the same in the kingdom of God. God can give answers and blessings according to the standards He has set up. He wants for all the people to receive answers and live blessed lives. But, His answers and blessings are decided according to the standards set up in His justice.
In other words, a person can receive blessings only when he comes within the boundaries which God has set for His blessing. A Roman centurion in Matthew 8 could receive an answer from Jesus because he came with the boundary for God’s love and blessing.
At that time the Roman Empire had colonized Israel, where a Roman centurion’s authority was so great. A centurion at Capernaum came to Jesus and asked Him to heal one of his servants who had been lying paralyzed at home and fearfully tormented. It was not usual for a man of great authority from a colonizing country to come to a lowly man of the subjugated country and petition anything of him. This tells us how much his goodness and loving-kindness were.
Jesus was touched by his humbleness and said to him, “I will come and heal him.” But the centurion humbly said with faith, “Lord, I am not worthy for You to come under my roof, but just say the word, and my servant will be healed.”
When Jesus heard this, He marveled and said, “Truly I say to you, I have not found such great faith with anyone in Israel. Go; it shall be done for you as you have believed.” And the servant was healed that very moment.
Everything was possible for the centurion because he had such great faith. Also he was humble and had enough loving-kindness to take care of his servants. He was fully qualified to receive God’s answers.
