This is Rev. Dr. Jaerock Lee, Senior Pastor of Manmin Central Church in Seoul, Korea. I wish for your life to be filled with God’s love and blessing. I want to share God’s grace with you through this message titled “Shall I Hide from You What I Am about to Do?”
The reason that God created and has cultivated mankind is because He wants to gain true children who have come to completely resemble the image of God, are able to measure the depths of His heart, and love Him from the bottom of their hearts. Those true children of God not only receive whatever they ask for but even the deep secrets of the heavenly kingdoms are given to them.
Abraham, the Forefather of Faith, was called the “friend of God.” He was a mere human creature but was worthy of being called the friend of God. This confirms for us how fully he took after God.
In Genesis 17:1, we find that when Abram was 99 years old, God said to him, “I am God Almighty; Walk before Me, and be blameless.” And God established His covenant between God and Abram, and gave him the new name “Abraham,” which means the “father of many nations.”
In Genesis 18:17, God said, “Shall I hide from Abraham what I am about to do?” but then He revealed to Abraham what He would do against the two cities Sodom and Gomorrah in which sin and evil were rampant. That’s because there was a strong trust between God and Abraham.
God told Abraham in advance that He would judge the two cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. He also let him know that Abram’s descendants, the Israelites, would be strangers enslaved and oppressed in a land that was not theirs for four hundred years, and afterward they would come back to the land of Canaan that God had promised to them.
Just as it is said in Amos 3:7, “Surely the LORD God does nothing Unless He reveals His secret counsel To His servants the prophets,” God does not put His plan into operation until He reveals to His beloved children what will occur.
During His public ministry, Jesus also told His disciples of His forthcoming sufferings, crucifixion, resurrection and ascension into heaven. And the apostle John, one of His disciples, in the deep communication with God, received God’s detailed revelations on what would happen in the end times of the world and wrote the Book of Revelation.
God still wants as many people as possible to lead the same blessed life that Abraham did. For that purpose, God appointed Abraham as the Forefather of Faith and refined him, and let his journeys be written in the Bible in detail.
May each of you fully obey the word of God and measure the depths of His heart so that you can receive the blessing of being called the “friends of God,” in the name of our Lord I pray!
